Capturing What Cannot Be Seen
A Question That Changed Everything
What remains of a human being?
Beyond achievement.
Beyond recognition.
Beyond a lifetime.
This question has guided Hervé Missiaen’s artistic journey for many years.
Not to document what people accomplished.
But to preserve what made them who they were.
Their presence.
Their character.
Their vision.
The invisible force that shaped a life.
.
From Business to Art
After an international career in business, Hervé chose a different path.
He exchanged boardrooms for the artist’s studio.
Not to paint faces.
But to explore the human stories behind them.
This decision became the beginning of a lifelong artistic mission.
Beyond Portraiture
The portraits of the 196 Titans From This World are not traditional portraits.
They are not created simply to reproduce a likeness.
Each painting searches for something deeper.
A conversation.
A symbol.
A defining idea.
A way of seeing the world.
What begins as an encounter gradually becomes an interpretation.
What begins as a life becomes a visual legacy.

The Chain
.

.
A recurring symbol throughout Hervé’s work is a wooden chain composed of seven interconnected links.
Each link represents one essential dimension of a balanced human life:
• Personal Growth
• Relationships
• Career
• Family & Friends
• Spiritual Growth
• Contribution
• Solitude
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
True fulfillment is created through harmony between all seven.
This philosophy continues to influence every encounter and every portrait within the Titans project.
The birth of 196 Titans From This World
.
This lifelong search ultimately evolved into 196 Titans From This World.
A global artistic mission to portray one remarkable individual from every nation on Earth.
Each encounter becomes more than a painting.
It becomes part of a growing archive of human excellence.
An archive that celebrates people who have built, discovered, healed, inspired, protected or transformed the world around them.
A Living Archive
The collection continues to grow.
Each new Titan adds another perspective.
Another story.
Another way of understanding what it means to leave a meaningful mark on humanity.
Together, the portraits form constellations that connect individuals across professions, cultures and generations.
Legacy
The original portraits are not created to disappear into private collections.
They are created to travel.
To be exhibited.
To inspire.
Many of today’s Titans will one day no longer be with us.
Their portraits will remain.
Their stories will remain.
Their contribution will remain.
Through art, each encounter becomes part of a legacy that future generations can still discover.

Many portraits originate from photographic moments generously shared by photographers whose first capture made the encounter possible.

“Some people build companies.
Some write books.
Some change history.
I preserve the stories that time would otherwise forget."
“Every Titan leaves a mark on the world.
My role is to ensure that mark is never forgotten."
